Marlowe Students Shine at Torch Event
Created on Tuesday, 08 November 2011 19:09Young students representing The Marlowe Academy made a big hit at the Coca Cola Future Flames Olympic Torch Tour event at Canterbury Christ Church University last week (see picture). The Marlowe students were in constant demand to pose for Olympic Torch photographs by CCCU staff impressed by their smart appearance. The Marlowe students were also interviewed by a film crew from the University.
The event was staged to find the final ten bearers of the Olympic Torch on its journey around the UK next year before it arrives at the London Games arena. Ten places have been reserved for schoolchildren and students aged 12 and over and the Marlowe students nominated themselves.
The Academy's Head of Physical Education, Paul Johnson, commented: “I was very proud of the way our students conducted themselves and it was pleasing to hear such glowing tributes to them at such a prestigious occasion when the Olympic Torch made its only appearance in Kent apart from the official tour.”
