The Spires Academy provides an inspirational educational environment for students aged 11-16 in Canterbury. We offer the highest quality education, care and teaching to motivate students to learn within a small, supportive and challenging setting that prepares them for all aspects of adult life. Our specialist status in Business & Enterprise, and Visual, Creative & Performing Arts, underpins our dynamic approach to teaching and learning. These specialisms ensure that we have the resources and expertise to encourage students to develop confidence, understanding and skills in these areas. As an Academy, our sponsors are committed to working in partnership with students, staff, parents, governors and the local community, and to support the Academy in raising aspirations and building a successful future. Spires Academy is looking forward to a new building, due to open in September 2012. |

The Folkestone Academy has a broadly Christian ethos with high expectations of behaviour and attainment and sport, music, drama, dance and extra curricular activities provide a major component of the school week, with coaching available from professionals in each field. The Aacdemy specialises in Art, Media and European Culture and has been identified by Kent County Council as its Centre of Excellence in Media and the Creative Arts. The Folkestone Academy has been sponsored by former Saga Chairman, Roger De Haan, and by Kings School Canterbury, one of the country’s leading independent schools. It is also strongly supported by Kent County Council whose strategy to transform education in the region has led to its active involvement in the Academies programme. Kent University and Canterbury Christ Church University are represented on the Board of Trustees. Designed by international award-winning architects Foster and Partners, the Academy building is amongst the finest in the country. The design provides a state of the art learning environment at the heart of which are eight house blocks. |
